The picture-pretty town of Estellencs is located on Mallorca’s West Coast. Flanked by the Tramuntana Mountain Range, it offers dazzling views to the Mediterranean Sea. Its spacious villas, farmhouses and traditional townhouses are characterised by their lush greenery and peaceful surroundings. The village has hotels, bars and restaurants, and its centre is known for its rich mediaeval heritage. The town’s slow tempo is alluring to its local inhabitants, who choose living in this town over for its healing nature. The belfry of the Saint John the Baptist church used to be a defence tower, and the old outdoor laundry site is a magnificent example of the Muslim water-irrigation system. Estellencs celebrates the feast of Saint John, the town’s patron saint, and the feast of Saint Antoni, the patron saint of animals. On Saint Antoni, animals are paraded through the streets as they are blessed. After the parade, town folk gather to enjoy a barbecue next to a huge bonfire constructed for the occasion. Estellencs also holds a guitar festival in memory of Xavier Bestard, which convokes international artists in its magnificent surroundings. This small corner of the world is an ideal spot to practise trekking, climbing and cycling. One favoured outing is climbing the Puig de Galatzó, a 1.027-metre peak considered to be one of the most superb vantage points on the island. Those who enjoy the water, can take a dip at Cala Estellencs, a picturesque stone beach with a jetty, located near the mouth of the Son Fortuny Torrent.
